It is National Volunteer Week April 14th to 20th and we are recognizing some of the amazing individuals who generously give their time to support our organization.
Food Security is an issue we have prioritized and are addressing with the support of a team of volunteers. It starts with our volunteers working behind the scenes, pickup and delivering the produce and dry goods from the Food Share Network Warehouse. Then Cobs for our bread and baked goods. Thanks to Chris, Derrick, Don and Kayla for the heavy lifting!
Once at our Commercial Kitchen product is sorted and packed by volunteer Hitch for the Food Share Services that are held weekly at both Centres. Distribution is managed by our caring volunteers Sandy and Hitch at Saanich and Sue at Victoria.
The Silver Spoons Cafe at the Saanich Centre provides low cost lunches, and volunteer Marcus has been a gift to us for the past 30 years. At Victoria, volunteer Peggy leads a weekly Soup Social, with lively discussion over lunch.

Meet our Technology Volunteers and the interesting work they do for us!
At the Saanich Centre the Victoria Computer Club (VCC) volunteers offer group lessons and one on one support in addition to managing the Club. Thank you to Michael, Kim, Gord, Dorothy and George. And Carol who recently has taken on the Photography Instructor role with the Club after 10 years of being the Silver Threads volunteer photographer.
At the Victoria Centre, Blair and Charlie are the one on one support instructors and provide weekly appointments.
We are lucky to have a great group of dedicated and skilled volunteers to help with technology needs. Thank you, you are appreciated by all!

Book Lending Library and Book Club Volunteer Adele brings literature appreciation to the Victoria Centre. Retired Music Teacher, Pat shares her love of Opera and the Classics in monthly programs. While our Walking Group Volunteers Monika and Raewyn lead groups indoors and in the great outdoors! Thank you for sharing your talents with us, you are appreciated!

Our Treasure Trove Thrift Shop volunteers are indeed treasures! They open the Shop Monday to Friday and accept donations of clothing and household goods. Last year they raised over $6,000 and had many happy customers who found some bargains.
Special thanks to Lillis, Laural, Anna, Sandra, Linda, Gail, Linda and Gloria! What a team!

Both of our Centres host a Monthly Social for members new and old to connect over coffee. Thank you to Penny and Joan at the Victoria Centre and Anna at the Saanich Centre for hosting these events and making everyone feel welcome.
Come and find out how wonderful these volunteers are for yourself! Socials are held on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30, the next dates are Saanich: April 23rd and Victoria: May 7th.

This coed choir practices Tuesday mornings at the Saanich Centre and performs at a variety community settings every month. We appreciate their talent, dedication and enthusiasm.
