Memory PLUS Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a volunteer to assist the facilitator of Memory PLUS (Practice, Laughter, Useful Strategies) – a program designed for individuals to learn tools and specific strategies to help improve brain function and memory.

Duties include: Supporting facilitator with activities, maintaining program flow, helping to set-up and clean-up program and refreshment areas.

Days / Location: Thursdays, 9:00am – 12:00pm, St. Luke’s Church, 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Road

Digital Camera Group Volunteer:

Silver Threads and the Victoria Computer Club are looking for a volunteer (preference to individuals 55+) to run our digital camera group.

Duties Include: Selecting photo shoot locations and topics; attending photo shoots; reviewing and comparing images taken.

Days / Times: 4th Thursday of the month, 10:00am—12:00pm, and 1 – 3 photo shoots a month (times and locations vary).

Location: Silver Threads Service, 286 Hampton Road

Thrift Store Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a volunteer to work in our Treasure Trove Thrift Store.

Duties include: Sorting, pricing and selling items in our centre based thrift store.

Days: Tuesdays

Time: 2 hours per week (times are negotiable)

Location: Saanich Centre, 286 Hampton Road

Income Tax Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a volunteer to prepare income tax returns for seniors on limited income.

Duties Include: Preparing simple income tax returns and E-Filing them for multiple clients.

Time Commitment: March and April, 2 days per week, 2 hours per day

Time: 9:00am-12:00pm

Arts and Crafts Assistant:

Silver Threads is looking for a volunteer to help a visually impaired knitter with their self-directed knitting projects during our Friday morning drop-in Knitting and Crafting time.

Duties Include: Helping the participant to select knitting patterns and reading them aloud so she can type them into her braille machine. Guiding her around the facility.

Days: Fridays

Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
