Memory PLUS Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a volunteer to assist the facilitator of Memory PLUS (Practice, Laughter, Useful Strategies) – a program designed for individuals to learn tools and specific strategies to help improve brain function and memory.

Duties include: Supporting facilitator with activities, maintaining program flow, helping to set-up and clean-up the program and refreshment areas.

Days: June to August, Tuesdays, 9:00am – noon

Walking Group Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a volunteer to lead a weekly walking group on nearby roads and trails.

Duties include: Leading a group of seniors on local walks. Volunteers must have valid First Aid / CPR certificate and complete a Police Information Check

Days: Wednesdays

Time: 10:00am – 11:00am

Location: Starting at Saanich Centre, 286 Hampton Road

Telephone Reassurance Volunteer:

Silver Threads Service is looking for a Telephone Reassurance volunteer.

Duties include: Providing daily check-in phone calls to seniors living alone in Greater Victoria.

Days: Monday to Friday (excluding holidays)

Time: 8:30am—9:00am

Location: Calls can be placed from the volunteer’s home or from one of the Silver Threads centres.

Volunteer Computer Instructors:

Silver Threads and the Victoria Computer Club are looking for volunteers (preference to individuals 55+) to teach the following computer topics:

  • Windows 10
  • Android Devices
  • Apple Devices

Duties Include: Teaching seniors (55+) any of the above topics

Days: 1 Monday or 1 Thursday / month, 10:00am—12:00pm

Volunteer Computer Tutors:

Silver Threads and the Victoria Computer Club are looking for volunteers (preference to individuals 55+) to tutor people 1:1 on computer issues.

Duties Include: Tutoring seniors (55+) to resolve computer problems

Days: 1 Day per week
Tuesdays 10:00am—2:00pm OR
Fridays 12:00pm—3:00pm OR
Saturdays 9:30am—11:30am
