If you're interested in joining an online class but aren't sure how comfortable you are using Zoom check out this interview we had with Adele on May 25th about her recent experience doing a class online using Zoom.
Have you ever participated in a virtual class before trying Brain Games online (pilot)?
- Adele: No, joining the Brain Games Pilot class was my first time ever on Zoom.
Was it easy to get into the virtual classroom with Zoom?
- Adele: I found it very easy to get onto Zoom – although I admit I was a little intimidated at first! It was an automatic thing: on the Ipad it was one click, put your numbers in and away we go!
Did you enjoy participating in the Brain Games activities and discussion? If so, what stands out for you?
- Adele: Yes, I very much enjoyed the experience of seeing people and connecting, especially in the small breakout groups. It was a learning curve, but not a steep one. I am now open to Zoom and it opened a new door for me. ... See MoreSee Less

This year they adapted to challenges with COVID by providing the service by phone. Over 150 Income Tax Returns for 2020 were filed. We appreciate their dedication and efficiency! Volunteer Recognition Week!
Joyce has continued to come in weekly to the Saanich Centre throughout this challenging year to re-shelve and sort our library books and puzzles. An avid puzzler and reader, Joyce has kept our library ready to help occupy folks in these COVID times. One of our best laughs was over a note on a returned puzzle she was re-shelving, “Sorry, one piece missing , eaten by the dog!”

Volunteer Recognition Week!
Silver Threads Service is a charitable organization led and supported by a Board of Directors. The Board are volunteers who give their time, skills and expertise to set the vision and provide oversight for STS. We are pleased to welcome the newest Board Member, Twyla Johnson. Today is the start of Volunteer Recognition Week in Canada.
The theme is The Value of One. The Power of Many.
This year has been a year like no other - and we have kept going, pivoted our services and had a wonderful group of Volunteers helping along the way. There were 52 individuals who contributed over 3,100 hours this year, from our Board Leadership, to delivering meals, to preparing taxes, and so much more. We appreciate and are so grateful for each of you! Thank you to all our Volunteers!
